Are you ready to put your French skills to the ultimate test? The most prestigious international writing competition for Alliance Française students is back! La Plume d’Or 2026 is officially open for registrations, and this year, the stakes are higher than ever.
Imagine spending a week in the heart of Paris, cruising the Seine, and wandering through the halls of the Louvre—all because of your mastery of the French language. For one lucky winner, this dream will become a reality.
What is La Plume d’Or?
Created over 25 years ago by the organization Défense de la langue française (DLF), La Plume d’Or is a global event that unites French learners across five continents. From Pune to Port of Spain, students compete simultaneously to showcase their linguistic flair and cultural knowledge.
It isn’t just a test; it’s a celebration of the Francophonie. It encourages adult learners to push their boundaries and rewards the hard work put into mastering “la langue de Molière.”
Who Can Participate?
To maintain a fair and competitive spirit, the competition is reserved for students who meet the following criteria:
-
Current Students: You must be an active student at Alliance Française de Pune.
-
Nationality: Open to adult students of foreign nationality (non-French).
-
Age: You must be 18 years or older.
-
Level: A minimum proficiency of A2 level is required. Whether you are a steady B1 learner or a C2 expert, this is your platform!
The Grand Prize: A Dream Trip to Paris!
The winner of the 2026 edition will be awarded a one-week trip to Paris in March 2027, coinciding with the vibrant Semaine de la Francophonie (Francophonie Week).
Last year, the honor went to Calvin Archibald from AF Port of Spain. This year, could the winner be from Pune? The competition is fierce, but the reward is life-changing. Beyond the grand prize, the top 100 laureates worldwide receive official certificates of merit from DLF in France, a prestigious addition to any professional CV.
What Does the Test Look Like?
The competition lasts for 2 hours and is divided into two distinct parts:
-
Language & Culture (60 Points): This section includes exercises on French grammar, vocabulary, and general knowledge of French culture. These are corrected locally by our expert teachers at AF Pune.
-
Written Expression (40 Points): The second part is a short essay or dissertation on a given theme. This is where your creativity and “Plume” (pen) truly shine.
The top three copies from Pune will be sent directly to the Jury in France, who will personally grade the essays to select the global winner.
