About Fête de la Musique
In France, 21st June is not only the longest day of the year but is also the day of the Fête de la Musique (World Music Day). Created in France in 1982, Fête de la Musique has been adopted by countries all over the world to celebrate a shared love of music.
This year, as a part of the celebrations for Fête de la Musique, the French Embassy in India, the French Institute in India and the Alliance Françaises in India, in collaboration with Boxout.fm, presents a web radio.
The webradio will feature a variety of audio shows such as interviews, podcasts, curated playlists and radio exchanges from 7 June to 21 June on boxout.fm and fetedelamusique.in. The programme for Fête de la Musique 2021 also features online concerts and workshops taking place parallely on various e-platforms from June 19th to June 26th.

Joyce Quartet and Claire Merlet at Festival Inventio

The Inventio festival is run by violinist Leo Marillier and is held every year in Paris. This particular concert was filmed in the Galleria Continua, against the backdrop of the sculpture ‘Cave’ by Anish Kapoor.
Since 2020 was the 250th birth anniversary of Beethoven, the festival programmed a rendition of String quintet Op. 29 by Joyce Quartet and Claire Merlet.
About Joyce Quartet:
The Joyce Quartet unites four young musicians who graduated from the Paris Conservatory with the highest distinction, the Artist Diploma. They specialize in 20th century and contemporary music, but return to the Romantic and classical repertoire as well. The group members have previously received grants from Mécénat Musical Société Générale, Fondation Banque Populaire and Fondation de France. They have appeared in several festivals and are gaining huge popularity with concerts in important halls and festivals.[divider]
This online concert is presented by the French Network in India, Poona Music Society, Goethe-Institut Pune and Boxout.fm as a part of the programme for Fête de la Musique 2021.
