What is DELF-DALF?
DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are official, high-quality diplomas, harmonised with the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- These diplomas are recognised worldwide and are valid for life.
- Depending on the level, the DELF-DALF can enhance a curriculum vitae (CV) and make it easier to get a job in a company where the language spoken is French.
- The DELF B1 allows you to obtain French nationality.
- The DELF B2, and increasingly the DALF C1, allow entry into French, European or Francophone universities, and into certain grandes écoles.
- Alliance Francaise de Pune is also the only centre in Pune to offer DELF / DALF exams.
Different diplomas based on the age
There are different types of diplomas based on the age and the profile of the candidates. At AFdB we offer:
- DELF-DALF Tout public (for general public)
- DELF Junior (for teenangers aged 12 to 17)
- DELF Prim (for children aged 6 to 11)
Those three versions of the DELF assess the skills in the four fields of language learning described in the Common European Framework for Languages: reading, listening, writing and speaking. The themes and tasks of these different versions are adapted to each age group, but rely on a communicative approach: the language level tested is the same, regardless of the version of the exam.
What are the different levels of certification?
- DELF A1: Breakthrough or beginner
- DELF A2: Waystage or elementary
- DELF B1: Threshold or intermediate
- DELF B2: Vantage or upper intermediate
- DALF C1: Effective Operational Proficiency or Advanced
- DALF C2: Mastery or proficiency
