About the Event
Nights of Reading (Nuits de la Lecture) is an initiative of the French Ministry of Culture and the National Book Centre in Paris, to celebrate the pleasure of reading and sharing books! Created in 2017, the Nights of Reading have since developed into an annual event where libraries, bookshops, museums and cultural establishments from around the world come together to reaffirm the essential place of reading and books in people’s lives.
Nights of Reading will take place this year from 20 January to 23 January. Inspired by the words of Victor Hugo, this year’s theme for the celebrations is “Love always! Love again!”.
Alliance Française de Pune and Goethe-Institut Pune take this opportunity to invite you to an evening of fun activities, including an interactive session of ‘Read & Tell’, based on the beloved childhood activity of ‘Show & Tell’!
Individuals from all walks of life are invited to read passages, excerpts, poems or quotes of their choice, as long as they are related to the theme of love! All languages are welcome as are all forms of love – be it romantic, platonic, self-love, the love for a friend, a pet or even a book!
Alongside ‘Read & Tell’, participants will also enjoy an immersive reading of ‘The Little Prince’ by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in French and English.
