French pianist and composer Robert Piéchaud is back in Pune, conducting research at the National Film Archives of India for his repertoire of ciné-concerts! Join him at a showcase on Saturday, 12 November, where he will shed light on his creative process and demonstrate improv on extracts of silent films.

About Robert Piéchaud

Piéchaud studied the piano and organ under the tutelage of Claude Helffer and Gilles Harlé. He takes special interest in silent cinema and performs ciné-concerts regularly at the Louvre museum in Paris. Piéchaud is also an expert in music technology and, as a developer, works closely with the companies ‘MakeMusic’ and ‘IRCAM’.

At present, he is conducting research at the National Film Archive of India. This is his first step towards the production of ciné-concert that will feature short films from the silent film era in India. Piéchaud is expected to perform the cine-concert in India in 2023, as part of a project supported by the French Institute in India, the network of Alliances Françaises in India and NFAI-NFDC.[divider]
