ASCENSEUR POUR L’ÉCHAFAUD / ELEVATOR TO THE GALLOWS
by Louis Malle (90′)
Wed. 6th September| 8.00 pm | Lost The Plot – Seasons Hotel, Aundh
–FREE ENTRANCE, Movie in French with English subtitles-
The solo-directed debut feature of 24-year-old Louis Malle, made in 1957, at the turning point of French cinematic history, is a historically significant work that brought together the legendary Jeanne Moreau (turning her into a major star), the adventurous and highly-skilled cinematography of Henri Decaë, and a now iconic jazz score by Miles Davis.
As fatalistic as its name sounds, the “’Elevator to the Gallows'” is a modern film noir and crime thriller, a story of a murder plot gone awry as an ill-fated sequence of events unfolds following a seemingly perfect crime.
